Sunday Countdown: 5 Favorite YA TV Shows

I watch a lot of tv. Like an absurd amount. Like I had to make an Excel spreadsheet because I couldn’t keep track of when all the shows I watch were on. Plus I watch a lot through Netflix Instant. So in conclusion, I’m probably just as obsessed with tv as I am with reading.

5. Gossip Girl

This show is so deliciously addictive. The lives of these characters are so absurd, but you can’t look away. I stopped watching about halfway through season 3, because it got stupid, but I tried again when it went up on Netflix Instant and found that once you power through season 3, it’s still awesome. I can’t wait for season 5 to be added to Netflix. I wish they would hurry up so I could try to catch up before the final season. I think Chace Crawford might be the most beautiful man in existence. Also, Jenny and Vanessa suck. Xoxo…

4. Everwood

Oh man, did I love this show. Gregory Smith and Emily VanCamp had AMAZING chemistry. Everwood was touching and hilarious. The series finale’s last scene was just perfect. Also, I was convinced I was going to marry Gregory Smith.

3. Gilmore Girls

If only I could be as witty as Rory and Lorelai! Rory was my idol growing up. She was super smart and unapologetic about it (we’ll ignore the time she quit freaking Yale and I was so disappointed in her). Rory and Lorelai had one of the best mother-daughter relationships on tv.

2. Pretty Little Liars

I’ll admit, I originally thought that this show sounded terrible. Then I watched like seven episodes in a single day and I was hooked. I can’t even explain how I can spend hours debating who A is, who killed Ali, etc. The appeal certainly isn’t in the main girls (call the cops, morons!). But somehow their constant stupidity combined with the gorgeous guys and ridiculous dialogue make this show an obsession for me. I know that doesn’t sound like much of a recommendation, but seriously watch one episode and you won’t be able to stop.

1. The Vampire Diaries

Liking this show was a complete surprise to me, but OMG IT’S AMAZING. This is one of the few examples where I actually enjoy the love triangle because I love both guys so much. This show has it all: great acting, an edge-of-your-seat plot, awesome characters, badass villians, romance, drama, hilarity…I love it. Also, Damon should have his shirt off more often. Just saying.

  1. I’m really glad to hear there’s another book blogger that watches a ton of tv because it seems like there’s quite a few who only watch one or two shows and I am more like you and watch more tv shows then I can keep track of. I love teen dramas in general so this I loved this list.
I watched the first season or so of Gossip Girl and I really loved it, I keep meaning to watch at least the second but then I ended up not doing that. I loved Gilmore Girls and I own all five seasons on DVD, when I first started watching the show I also wanted to be just like Rory because I so admired and relate to her love for reading. I love Pretty Little liars as well but I’m pretty far behind on that series but I still really enjoy what I’ve seen of the series.
I completely loved the first two seasons of The Vampire Diaries those seasons where some of my favorite I had ever seen the plot moved along quickly and while there were lots of twists and turns that were surprising but still made sense back then. The characters where pretty well written back then and I loved them all, the relationships developed logically and while I think the show has always been a bit to quick to kill characters off it worked for the show back then. In season three I think the show become somewhat loss but was still enjoyable but the show started to focus more on love triangles and I was never interested in that aspect of the show and the plot twist didn’t make much sense anymore. I really didn’t like season four because the writing overall wasn’t very good in my opinion.
If your a fan of Vampire Diaries you should check out the tv show Teen Wolf which can be a bit cheesy and doesn’t sound like it would be a good show but it actually is really great once you get into it and it’s very similar to Vampire Diaries in a lot of ways and each season the show gets better.
